Directors of Nursing, Assistant DONs, Nurse Managers, Directors of Inservice and/or Staff Development


Program Summary


This New York State Department of Health (DOH) approved training program has been developed with nursing home Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) instructors in mind, but will be helpful to any staff member who provides education. This program satisfies the requirement of regulation 415.26 - Organization and administration - for a CNA instructor to have successfully completed a "professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners."

Unlike other programs, this training is specific to nursing homes and will provide you with best practices, ideas for developing curriculum, lesson plans, and much more!

Karen Puglisi is a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Karen has 47 years of experience in the healthcare field, and the majority of those years have been dedicated to the field of long term care. She held a variety of management positions including Case Management, MDS Coordination, Quality Assurance, and Director of Nursing. Karen also has taken an active role in the education and staff development of employees. Her background has provided her with a strong regulatory and clinical experience.

Registration fee includes continental breakfast and lunch both days, and class materials.

We accept the following forms of payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
Check payments can be accommodated when necessary, however; registrations will not be complete until payment is received. Full payment must be received by the date of the program to ensure participation.

Cancellations

Cancellations received by March 21 are refundable, less a 25 percent administrative fee. Those who are registered and cancel after that date or do not attend the event will not receive refunds and are still responsible for payment in full if not already paid. Cancellations must be sent in writing to edu@leadingageny.org.

Program Materials

Program materials will be distributed at the class. A certificate of completion will be issued at the completion of the training.
