Joe Bernardo is a managing director at JPMC and is the head of Point of Sale Strategies, with responsibility for credit, debit, and commercial card fraud and authorization decisions. Joe and his team are responsible for preventing fraud while allowing customers to spend seamlessly using their Chase branded plastics. This includes identification and mitigation of emerging fraud trends or payment data breaches (e.g. Target, Home Depot, etc..), balancing customer experience while maintaining industry leading fraud rates, and enabling payment innovation (e.g. ChasePay, SamsungPay, EMV, etc.) with appropriate fraud controls. Joe started his career in June 2009 as a summer intern at JPMorgan Chase in Consumer Banking Risk Management. Since then, Joe has held positions as a check fraud analyst, where he implemented an industry leading check fraud decision platform, head of check fraud where his team produced record low loss rates, and the head of debit fraud and authorizations. Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Ohio State University. He lives in Columbus with his wife, Brittany, and their Bullmastiff, Gus. Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, DIY Home Improvement, and watching football/baseball. |
