What is your cancellation policy?
This is not your typical industry event. If you are registered and realize you need to cancel, please contact us as soon as possible, as meeting requests will be submitted to congressional offices well in advance of June 21. Cancellations close to the event date are particularly disruptive, especially if you are the only attendee from your state. Please consider these factors before registering!
Our cancellation policy:?
On/Before February 3, 2023: 100% of full registration fee refunded per person
February 4, 2023 – May 1, 2023: 50% of full registration fee refunded per person
On/After May 2, 2023: No refund
If you need to cancel, contact meetings@asta.org. Please provide your registration confirmation number.
What should I know about logistics regarding Legislative Day?
- Since we only have a short window during which to schedule your congressional appointments, we ask that you make every attempt to stay in D.C. past 5:00 p.m. on the day of event. Should you choose to leave before 5:00 p.m., ASTA will not be responsible for rescheduling any meetings that are scheduled for after your departure.
- Because congressional appointments can and do change up until the last minute, your final schedule will not be available until the day before or the day of the event. ASTA cannot provide a final schedule in advance of the event, but will provide a preliminary schedule a few days before the event.
- ASTA will schedule all appointments with your congressional delegation. To minimize confusion, do not schedule your own congressional appointments or contact any legislative office directly regarding your appointments. ASTA is coordinating a large number of meetings and we want to keep confusion to a minimum.
Can you tell me more about ASTA Legislative Day and why I should attend?
Did you know an in-person visit from a constituent is rated by congressional offices as THE most effective way to influence a Member of Congress. Every year, ASTA members from across the country come together in Washington, D.C., to speak to their elected representatives about critical issues affecting the travel industry and their businesses. Successful advocacy is about relationship-building. Through the years, ASTA members have a lasting impact on building connections with your representatives on Capitol Hill.
Advocacy today is more critical than ever and we're taking you straight to the source at ASTA Legislative Day.

Do you have a list of advocacy highlights from ASTA?
ASTA fights to protect the interests of its members and the broader travel agency community at all levels of government – federal, state and even local governments. Between 2012 and today, ASTA’s efforts led to legislative and regulatory wins that saved the industry an estimated $720 million in new taxes, fees, and other costs, in addition to millions in COVID relief efforts targeted at small businesses. In many cases, these wins came as a direct result of the advocacy Leg Day attendees undertook.
ASTA’s 2022 Legislative Day Successes Include:
Advocacy for the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) Reinstatement Act (H.R. 6161/S. 3625), a bill that would reinstate a rescinded CARES Act tax credit that provided a refundable quarterly tax credit of up to $7,000 per employee for businesses whose revenue has been reduced by at least 20 percent relative to 2019 and 2020. These bills added 127 cosponsors between both chambers, at least 23 of which were directly connected to ASTA’s meetings.
Another priority, the Visit America Act (H.R. 6965/S. 3375) was included in a year-end spending package and signed into law in December 2022, just months after Legislative Day. The bill, establishes an Assistant Secretary for Travel and Tourism in the Department of Commerce, giving the travel industry much needed leadership within the U.S. government. Twelve new cosponsors were added as a result of ASTA's Legislative Day.
216 attendees from 43 states and 197 congressional meetings, 45 of which were with Members of Congress. This also includes a 90% in-person meeting rate.
$50,000 raised for ASTA's political and advocacy efforts.
