2017 DCCPA Annual Conference

Our Students.
Our Skills.
Our Communities.

Friday, December 8, 2017
The George Washington University

The theme of this year’s conference is Our Students. Our Skills. Our Communities.  We are excited to engage in conversations about our roles as student affairs educators in the DC metropolitan area at this unique moment in history.

Our educational program sessions will be organized into three themed program blocks:

Our Students - Programs in this block may include, but are not limited to, student development theory, best practices for student support, supporting different student populations, research on student outcomes, and supporting different student populations, etc.

Our Skills - Programs in this block may include, but are not limited to, examples of best practices in our work and at our institutions, teach-ins about technology, or skill-building workshops to enhance our professional development including budget planning and management, event planning, advising, etc.

Our Communities - Programs in this block may include, but are not limited to, sessions about the student affairs community in Washington, DC, the United States, and around the world.

DCCPA has encouraged program submissions that connect to ACPA’s Strategic Imperative on Racial Justice and Decolonization. DCCPA, a chapter of ACPA: College Student Educators International, boldly supports the ACPA Strategic Imperative on Racial Justice and Decolonization and explicitly, but not exclusively, invites program proposals that center on the experiences of marginalized peoples.  If you have questions about the strategic imperative, you are invited to review the literature at http://www.myacpa.org/strategic-imperative-racial-justice-decolonization and engage the board with your questions.
