Proposal Details
Community Colleges Take Center Stage is the theme for AACC Annual 2022, which will take place April 30 – May 2 in New York, NY.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been one of the single largest occurrences in modern history to have a profound impact on the way that community colleges have traditionally done their business. We have witnessed the ingenuity of leaders at all levels in the community college in response to this unprecedented event. And, each day, we are still learning and strategizing to advance student success.
AACC Annual provides you with an opportunity to share with other practitioners the innovations that you have implemented so that your colleges operate more efficiently and better serve students. AACC is seeking proposals that:
- Focus on one singular topic
- Feature a program, service, or organizational change to your institution as a result of COVID-19 or other trends and issues impacting two-year colleges
- Highlight significant impact on closing equity and achievement gaps
- Show measurable quantifiable outcome(s)
- Take an old concept and create something new to better address a current problem
- Show the ingenuity of the college in difficult circumstances
What we are not interested in are proposals that:
- Focus on a vendor’s product more than how the product was used as a part of the overall strategy to address a trend or issue impacting community colleges
- Are sales pitches
- Feature projects and/or services more than 5 years old
- Attempt to address multiple topics in a short period of time
- Highlight topics that are not of interest to the membership at large
To submit a proposal:
• Must be an educational associate, corporate partner, or institutional member of AACC
• No more than three presenters on each session
• Keep a copy of the submission for your records
If your proposal is accepted for inclusion on the agenda:
• Accept or reject the date and time that the session is scheduled
• All speakers must register to attend the full AACC Annual or register with a day rate
• Know that titles and session descriptions cannot be changed
The tracks for AACC Annual 2022 are:
- Campus climate and crisis management: Focus on strategies used to improve the campus climate for employees, students, and the community. Includes unique crises that the institution has had to face (ex. racial unrest, shootings, votes of no confidence, COVID-19), how the college responded, and lessons learned that could assist colleges that fall into similar circumstances
- Closing equity and achievement gaps: Programs and services focused on underrepresented populations. Examples: Black, Latinx, student parents, adult learners, first-generation college students
- Institutional operations: Operational changes that have been implemented since the pandemic or in response to trends and issues impacting the sector where one is seeing positive outcomes
- Recruitment and retention: Strategies that your institution has implemented to combat enrollment declines by recapturing those who haven’t re-enrolled or new enrollments
- Student success: Includes college readiness, academic affairs, student services, workforce development, or wrap-around supports for students. Can also focus on the use of technology, simulators, or other AV/VR tools used to enhance the in or out-of-classroom learning experience
- Teaching and learning: Related to pedagogy and strategies that promote engagement of students with the content
The deadline to submit proposals for consideration is December 31, 2021 by 5:00 p.m. ET.
